MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Leni Robredo commended law enforcement agencies for their recent efforts to conduct anti-illegal drug operations without causing deaths.

In a message posted on Twitter, Robredo lauded law enforcers involved in two operations in Makati and Manila cities that yielded more than P12 million worth of illegal drugs.

“Saludo kami sa law enforcement agencies na bahagi ng mga operasyon kung saan nasabat ang P6.8-M na halaga ng shabu sa Makati at P5.7-M na halaga ng shabu sa Tondo,” said the vice president, who now co-leads the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

“This was done without sacrificing innocent lives. Hopeful that we can continue this in our fight vs illegal drugs,” she added.

On Tuesday, authorities conducted an operation in a Makati bar that yielded at least one kilogram of shabu, as well as the arrest of two suspects, identified as Edison Chua and Brian Bantegui.

While on Wednesday, law enforcers arrested three people, including a high-value target, for possession of around 880 grams of shabu.

Since she assumed her new task as co-chairperson of the inter-agency committee on anti-illegal drugs (ICAD), Robredo has been pushing for a bloodless campaign against illegal drugs, as well as other proposals to improve the government’s war on drugs.
