ROEL Rosauro is eager to impress the top brass of ONE Championship and keep his spot in the roster of Asia’s top tier MMA organization.
The 33-year-old Rosauro is aware that his window in the sport is closing in and he needs an impressive run if he wants to reach his dream of a title fight.
“This is a very important fight for me, especially right now that my wife is close to giving birth. I’m also not getting any younger. I still want to achieve my goal of becoming a champion,” Rosauro told SunStar Cebu.
Rosauro welcomes newcomer James Young to the ONE Championship in the opening bout of ONE – “Revolution” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on Sept. 24, 2021.
Rosauro, a native of Camotes, is 1-2 in the ONE Championship and a loss could get him cut in the organization. He made his ONE debut in 2018 and got submitted by Li Kai Wen in the first round. He suffered a unanimous decision loss to Sunoto that same year. With his back against the wall, Rosauro fought all out and beat Yohan Mulia Legowo by unanimous decision in 2020.
Rosauro, who now trains at Survival MMA, fights for the first time in 20 months.
Rosauro, nicknamed “Akiyama”, is 5-3. Yang, on the other hand, has been impressive in the amateur level with a 6-0 slate. He’ll be making his pro debut at the age of 32.
Meanwhile, two other Pinoy warriors are seeing action on the same card.
ONE strawweight king Joshua Pacio (16-3) defends his title against Japanese former champion Yosuke Saruta (20-9-3) in a rematch in one of the main featured fights of the stacked card.
Rising strawweight prospect Lito Adiwang (12-3) faces Chinese Hexigetu (7-4) in the undercard. (EKA)
