Roxas Airport Plans Being Finalized

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA 6) - Plans for the approval of the improvement of the Roxas City airport are currently being finalized, according to Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) Secretary Manuel A. Roxas II, who also revealed that one of the improvements that will be initiated in said airport is the installation of night-rated facilities to accommodate aircrafts even during night time.

Roxas, who was with Ninoy Aquino International Airport General Manager Jose Angel Honrado during the installation of the new Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas office here, said the DoTC is now considering the putting up of such facilities in order to decongest the traffic in the runway in Manila airports, particularly at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

He said that so far, the country has 86 airports, 44 of which have commercial flights and 21 of these airports, including Roxas City, experience passenger traffic.

Roxas said he had earlier sent a team to Roxas City to inspect, evaluate and present recommendations in line with the needs of the airport terminal here. As recommended, he said, they are now undergoing a program of work for the modernization of the terminal building of Roxas City airport.
