On their wedding day in Surigao del Norte, couple Ria Ann and Rovil Basul were greeted by an unexpected guest: a delivery man carrying a package for the bride.

In a video uploaded by wedding guest Johnrey “Jhon Jhon” Galinato on June 7, the delivery man was seen handing over a parcel (later revealed to be a duster dress) to Ria Ann. The delivery was met with laughter and cheers from onlookers, who can also be heard shouting “Shopee” (a popular e-commerce app in Southeast Asia) in some parts of the video.

Hahahaha salamat (thank you) [Shopee]. Da best ka talaga (you are really the best) [Shopee]🤣🤣,” Galinato, a Cebu resident, captioned in his Facebook post.

Being quoted in a report by Cebu Daily News, Galinato said in Cebuano that the delivery man did not charge the couple for the package. It was instead treated as a wedding gift.

Wala na to [siya] gibayran ang parcel. Giregalo na lang to sa ila (The newlyweds didn’t have to pay for the parcel anymore. The parcel is a gift to them),” Galinato added.

Another video uploaded by Galinato on the same day showed the delivery man lining-up at the food table. This was after the couple invited him for lunch due to him arriving at noontime.

In a follow-up interview with Galinato, he revealed that the delivery man was actually a familiar face and that he left the ceremony after eating lunch.

Natutuwa lang ako sa mga naganap noong kasal kasi kakilala na namin si Kuya Joshua [the delivery man] dahil siya palaging ang nag-dedeliver ng mga parcel namin sa tuwing mag-order kami online, kaya hindi na sya na iba samin kaya pinapasok namin siya at para makakain narin sya,” Galinato told Yahoo Philippines in a follow-up statement.

(I’m happy with what happened during the wedding, because we already know Kuya Joshua, since he is always the one to deliver our parcels whenever we buy something online. He’s not a stranger, so we let him join and eat with us.)

He added that the newlyweds are happy, and are surprised with how viral the video became.

Masaya naman sila pagkatapos ng kanilang kasal. Tungkol naman sa video ko, hindi sila makapaniwala na nag viral ito na umabot na ngayon sa 1.2 [million] views (They’re happy after the wedding. When it came to my video, they couldn’t believe that it went viral and now reached about 1.2 [million] views,” Galinato said.

In addition to about a million views, the original video has garnered up to 14,000 laughing reactions, and a thousand comments. Among those who joined in the fun, a handful wondered if they would experience something similar on their wedding days. Meanwhile, there are those who simply found the whole scenario amusing.

“Rider: [Ma’am], irereceive mo o ititigil ang Kasal? ([Ma’am], will you receive this package or will I cancel this wedding?),” one commenter gagged.

UPDATE: Galinato’s follow-up statements from seventh to eleventh paragraph, and additional details on second and twelfth paragraph.
