Saludar, Carcosia to see action in Japan

SANMAN fighters Froilan Saludar and Presco Carcosia are seeing action in the undercard of the world title rematch of World Boxing Organization (WBO) super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka and four-division world champion Donnie Nietes on July 13 at the Ota City Gymnasium in Ota City, Tokyo, Japan.

Saludar locks horns with former World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight champion Daigo Higa in an eight-rounder.

The 33-year-old Saludar looks to bounce after losing his last fight to former interim World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight king Andrew Moloney. Saludar lost to Moloney by unanimous decision last Dec. 21 in Australia.

Like Saludar, Higa is also coming off a loss. He bowed down to Ryosuke Nishida via a one-sided unanimous decision last year.

Higa is the No. 26 ranked bantamweight by the WBC.

Saludar, a former world title challenger, is 32-5-1 with 22 knockouts, while Higa is 17-2-1 with 17 knockouts.

Carcosia, on the other hand, slugs it out with Musashi Mori in an eight-round bout.

The 26-year-old Carcosia won his last two contests after suffering his first career loss at the hands of Jai Alexander. He’s coming off a fourth round knockout of Ronel Sungquit on Feb. 5.

Mori lost his last fight to Satoshi Shimizu via a lopsided unanimous decision in 2021.

Carcosia is 10-1 with nine knockouts, while Mori, a former WBO Asia Pacific featherweight titleholder, is 12-1 with seven knockouts.
