ONE-TIME world title challenger Froilan Saludar will return to Japan to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific super flyweight belt next year.
The 30-year-old Saludar is defending his belt against Japanese knockout artist Ryoji Fukunaga in a fight card dubbed as Slugfest 12.
Saludar is coming off an eighth round technical knockout win over Tsubasa Murachi on Sept. 21, 2019 to win the vacant WBO Asia Pacific belt.
The 33-year-old Fukunaga, on the other hand, won his last fight on May 8, 2019 via a first round stoppage of Kittipong Jareonroy, ending a two-fight losing slump.
Saludar is 31-3-1 with 22 knockouts, while Fukunaga is 11-4 with 11 knockouts.
Saludar is currently rated No. 9 in the WBO, wherein Kazuto Ioka is the current titleholder.
Saludar fought for a world title in 2018. He challenged WBO flyweight champion Sho Kimura and lost via a sixth round knockout. (EKA)
