"MAY he serve as a good example to all of us."

This was said by Talisay City Mayor Gerald "Samsam" Gullas after a tricycle driver Mark Jared Padrique turned over the check that he found at the Tabunok Public Market to the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CTTODA).

The mayor thanked Padrique, who is plying the route Talisay to Tabunok Public Market, for returning the check worth P96,000 that is owned by a woman.

As a reward for his good deed, Padrique was given two sacks of rice and grocery items.

"Dili gyud ko mahibong (I wouldn't be surprised) if one of our constituents is recognized for their kindness because Talisaynons are naturally good natured and honest," said Gullas on Friday, June 3, 2022.

"I am truly proud ni Mark because wala gyud siya nagduhaduha (he did not hesitate) to turn over the check sa CTTODA bisag dako na kaayo ang kantidad nga naa sa iyang kamot (even though the check contains a large amount of money)," Gullas said.

CCTODA said the amount has been saved by the owner for quite a long time already.

The CTTODA has already notified Padrique's fellow tricycle drivers about the returned check for it to be claimed by its rightful owner.

Gullas hoped that other city residents would also emulate Padrique for his honesty and for not getting easily attracted to something that belongs to others.

"May this serve as a good example to all of us..." the mayor said. (With TPT)
