The San Miguel Beermen kept their season alive with a 103-90 win over the TNT Tropang Giga in Game Six of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
Marcio Lassiter sparked the Beermen’s early onslaught and then, punctuated his afternoon with a triple that placed his squad out of harm’s way. San Miguel led by as much as 26 points before TNT embarked on a spirited rally that pulled them to within 10, 88-98, with 2:44 to go after a three-point play by Roger Pogoy.
But Lassiter was unfazed as he took a pass from Chris Ross and calmly buried a triple for a 101-98 lead with 2:11 remaining in the match. Lassiter finished finished with 19 points highlighted by five triples to go with five rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Mo Tautuaa was the high-point man for San Miguel with 24 points while Arwind Santos added 13 markers and 10 boards. Cebuano giant June Mar Fajardo also had a fine outing, racking up 11 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks to help send this semifinals showdown to winner-take-all Game Seven on Sunday.
Ryan Reyes and Jayson Castro each had 16 points for TNT as their big guns, namely Roger Pogoy and Mikey Williams fell silent, combining for a mere 15 points.
