THE San Miguel Beermen crushed the NorthPort Batang Pier, 120-99, to give themselves a shot at a top four finish heading to the quarterfinal round of the PBA Philippine Cup on Tuesday, November 10, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena in Pampanga.
After a slow start that saw them trail, 24-30, after the first quarter, San Miguel blitzed NorthPort in the next two periods to establish margins that went as high as 34 points en route to snatching their win and closing their elimination round stint with a 7-4 (win-loss) record.
The five-time defending Philippine Cup champions are now tied with TNT and Alaska for third place in the standings.
Arwind Santos, Marcio Lassiter and Mo Tautuaa all scored more than 20 points in a dazzling show of offensive force. The 39-year old Santos had a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds while Lassiter and Tautuaa had 21 markers each.
Also scoring in double-figures were Von Pessumal with 15, Bambam Gamalinda with 12 and Alex Cabagnot with 11 markers.
The loss by NorthPort dropped them to 1-9. (JNP)
