THE San Miguel Beermen advanced to the semifinals of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup after they ousted the NorthPort Batang Pier, 100-95, in the quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon, September 30, 2021, at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

CJ Perez paced the Beermen, which came into the game at full strength with the return of dynamic guard, Terrence Romeo, with 21 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. San Miguel will be facing old nemesis, TNT, in the best-of-seven semifinals.

Six other players scored in double-figures for the powerhouse Beermen with Mo Tautuaa adding 17 and Marcio Lassiter firing in 15 markers. Cebuano big man June Mar Fajardo had 12 points and 12 rebounds while Chris Ross, Arwind Santos and Romeo each had 11 markers.

As potent as the Beermen’s offense was, their defense was just as effective as they hounded the Batang Pier’s ace guard Robert Bolick into a subpar shooting performance. The Ormoc native had just 12 points on 6-of-18 shooting from the field.

Cebuano big man Greg Slaughter had 27 points and 12 boards to lead the way for NorthPort. (JNP)
