San Miguel romps over Blackwater to earn semifinals seat

The San Miguel Beermen marched into the semifinals with a lopsided 123-93 win over the Blackwater Bossing in the quarterfinals of the PBA Season 47 Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The win placed the Beermen in the semifinals where they now await the winner of the quarterfinals clash between Meralco and Barangay Ginebra.

With several key players returning to action, the Beermen got off to a strong start and eventually led by as much as 39 markers in the one-sided affair that ended Blackwater’s campaign in this conference. It was a bitter end for the Bossing, which started the tournament with a bang, racing off to a 5-1 record but ended it with a whimper, losing six in a row.

Wingmen Marcio Lassiter and CJ Perez had 18 points each while Jericho Cruz added 17 markers.

Mo Tautuaa had 12 points and nine boards, while Cebuano behemoth June Mar Fajardo tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Rodney Brondial cleaned up the glass to the tune of 15 caroms while Chris Ross, back in action after a knee injury, whipped up 12 assists.

Sensational rookie Ato Ular led the Bossing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
