‘Sanman Bubble IX’ presents Paras vs. Paradero

FORMER world title challengers Vince Paras and Robert Paradero will slug it out in a 10-round fight in the main event of “Sanman Bubble IX” at the Sanman Gym in General Santos City on April 26.

Paras is eager to break into the world rankings again and a win over a two-time world title challenger in Paradero should surely give him a boost.

The 23-year-old Paras is 3-1 after losing to International Boxing Federation minimumweight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi in 2018. He lost his next fight to Jonathan Taconing by unanimous decision that same year before winning his next three fights against Reymark Taday twice and Vincent Bautista.

Paradero, in the meantime, is still rated no. 25 by the World Boxing Council despite losing his last two fights, both world championships.

The 25-year-old Paradero lost to Vic Saludar by split decision in their vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) minimumweight title fight in Cavite in 2021. He challenged for a world title again later last year and was stopped by WBA minimumweight Super champion Thamanoon Niyomtrong in the fifth round in Thailand.

Kenny Demecillo (15-5-2, 9 KOs) faces Macrea Gandionco (13-11-3, 8 KOs) in a 10-round main supporting bout.

In the undercard, Ian Sampan (4-0, 4 KOs) takes on Rey Ramos (8-13-2, 3 KOs); former interim WBA featherweight champion Jhack Tepora (23-1, 17 KOs) makes his much-anticipated ring comeback against Richard Betos (21-26-2, 8 KOs); one-time world title challenger Jayson Mama (16-1, 9 KOs) locks horns with Ramel Antaran (4-16-2); Alex Santisima (2-0, 1 KO) is up against Carlito Antaran (5-5-1, 3 KOs); Justine Darap (9-2, 5 KOs) squares off with Nicong Calamba (9-34-5, 6 KOs); and Gabriel Tapales (1-0, 1 KO) slugs it out with Jerson Arigola (1-0).
