Scaffolding Collapses After Fire Engulfs Under-Construction Building in California

A wall of scaffolding five stories high collapsed onto a road and at least two parked cars in Concord, California, on Tuesday, April 24, after a three-alarm fire ripped through an under-construction apartment building.

According to KGO, the fire had threatened an adjacent apartment building, sparking the evacuation of about 250 people. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation, the SF Gate reported.

The under-construction building was nearly entirely destroyed, reports said. This video, released late on Tuesday, shows scaffolding fall from one side of the building onto a residential road below, hitting at least two vehicles. Credit: ConFire via Storyful
