Sealcor Cagayan De Oro debut with win over hosts Bogo in PSL 21-Under

THE Sealcor Cagayan de Oro Kingfishers had a victorious debut as they routed the hosts Bogo City Bugoys, 87-74, in the Pilipinas Super League 21-Under VisMin Leg on Thursday afternoon, July 14, 2022, at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports and Cultural Center in Bogo City.

The Bugoys looked good early on and appeared ready to blow out the visiting team as they led by 13, 28-15, late in the first. However, the Kingfishers came alive in the second, outscoring Bogo City, 20-10, to tie the game up at 38-all at halftime.

Cagayan de Oro then uncorked a blistering run of their own, scoring 11 unanswered points in the third to take a 49-40 lead after a jumper by Paul Redondo with a little over five minutes left in the third. The Kingfishers kept the pressure on and raised their lead to 14, 56-42, after a three-point play by former University of Cebu standout Jeames Incio.

Egged on by the home crowd, Bogo City fought back and pulled to within seven, 57-64, after a bucket by Nico Lequin but Incio stepped up and scored Cagayan de Oro’s next seven points to bring their lead back to 14, 71-57.

Cagayan de Oro eventually cruised, raising their lead to a high of 18, 79-61.

Incio finished with 20 points and five rebounds while Redondo added 20 markers, three boards, and three assists.

Redjhee Recimiento and Lequin had 13 points each to lead the way for Bogo.
