Sean Lock fans want his parody book 'The Tiger Who Came For A Pint' published for charity

Sean Lock’s fans have called for his parody book The Tiger Who Came For A Pint to be published as a tribute to the late star.

The comedian died this week at the age of 58, after battling cancer.

The Tiger Who Came For A Pint was Lock’s version of Judith Kerr’s children’s book The Tiger Who Came To Tea.

It told of a tiger who “wanted a pint that packs a punch, like Stella or Kronenbourg”, who liked the atmosphere of Wetherspoon’s but was “barred from The King’s Head for mauling the darts team”.

Clips of the comedian telling the tale circulated on social media after his death.

And plenty of fans said they think getting it published for a good cause would be the perfect way to honour the late 8 Out Of 10 Cats star.

One person tweeted: “@Channel4 please release The Tiger Who Came For A Pint in memory of @TheSeanLock and his battle against cancer. I'd buy it.”

“We need to get Tiger Who Came For A Pint printed in memory of Sean Lock. Proceeds to go the research into cancer,” said another.

One fan urged: “Please get behind the idea of getting The Tiger Who Came For A Pint published. Massively funny and would be a great tribute to a great man.”

“Definitely want The Tiger Who Came For A Pint commissioned now - raise money to the charities Sean would have backed/helped him out,” suggested another.

The sad news of Lock’s death was confirmed on Wednesday.

A statement from his agent Off The Kerb Productions said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Sean Lock. He died at home from cancer, surrounded by his family.

“Sean was one of Britain’s finest comedians, his boundless creativity, lightning wit and the absurdist brilliance of his work, marked him out as a unique voice in British comedy.

“Sean was also a cherished husband and father to three children. Sean will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

“We kindly request that the privacy of his family and children is respected at this difficult time.”
