Because Selling Sunset was easily one of the best shows on Netflix this past summer, a lot of folks couldn't help but breeze through season 3 of the series. Inevitably, this left fans of the Oppenheim Group wondering ... is season 4 for sure happening?
According to Chrishell Stause, things are still up in the air at the moment. In August, the actress-turned-realtor addressed the big question Selling Sunset viewers want to know on her Instagram Stories. Unfortunately, it sounds like Netflix has yet to officially give the reality series the green light for a fourth installment. Take a look at how Chrishell, whose divorce from Justin Hartley was a major focus in season 3, responded to a fan asking about the show's future:
Per Chrishell, "We have to wait for them to give us the [official] pick up and then we can start shooting. So keep streaming to hurry them up! 😉"
Of course, given the tremendous success of the luxury real-estate series, we'd be pretty shocked if Netflix decided to pull the plug, especially as so many questions loom when it comes to Chrishell, Christine Quinn, Amanza Smith, Heather Rae Young, Maya Vander, Mary Fitzgerald, and Davina Potratz.
Assuming that Selling Sunset season 4 *does* happen, here are some details to note about what you can (hopefully) expect:
When would Selling Sunset return to Netflix?
Ready for some not-so amazing news? Even if the show is picked up for season 4 (which, again, it probably will be), due to the coronavirus pandemic, there's a good chance the cast won't be able to start filming until next year.
In an interview with Grazia, Christine explained how COVID-19 has hindered their ability to safely create the show: "We have such a big production, there's so many people on our crew. I don't think we'd be filming this year."
What could happen in season 4 of Selling Sunset?
So far, we've seen both Mary and Christine host huge weddings, which has us wondering if Heather and her beau, Flip or Flop host Tarek El Moussa, will be next to walk down the aisle. After all, the two did just get engaged this summer. That said, Heather told House Beautiful that Tarek wouldn't be appearing on the series due to his contract with HGTV. But if 2020 has taught us anything, it's that things can change very quickly ... so we'll keep our fingers and toes crossed.
Apart from those two lovebirds potentially taking center stage, season 3 left us off with Chrishell beginning a new chapter in her life as a single woman following her divorce in November 2019 from the This Is Us star. Chances are, she and Davina will be off to a rocky start come season 4 after Davina made comments about there being "two sides" to Chrishell and Justin's split.
Despite her departure from the Oppenheim Group in October, Davina still hopes to be part of the cast. Meanwhile, Brett Oppenheim also left the real estate group to form his own brokerage, Oppenheim Real Estate, but it sounds like he'll still be a part of the show.
"It’s not that I wanted to leave, but I had a great opportunity. It was a purely business decision," Davina told People."I certainly hope that I’m still part of the cast. Brett is not at the Oppenheim Group anymore either, so I don’t think that that’s going to be an issue at all."
Meanwhile, Maya's future remains uncertain after she pitched the idea of getting a broker's license and opening an office in Miami to co-founder Jason Oppenheim. While at the time it seemed unlikely that this would actually happen, it's still possible. After all, look what happened to Heather: Most recently, Jason announced that Heather is opening an office in Newport, California, for the Oppenheim Group. She'll be splitting her time between Los Angeles and Newport Beach, where she lives.
So basically, season 4 will include drama, drama, and, yep, more drama.
