MANILA, Philippines —The upper chamber of Congress passes in the third and final reading the Senate Bill No. 1636 or the Lifetime Cellphone Number Act.

Under the proposed law, an individual can retain his or her mobile number despite transferring to other service provider or changing subscription, whether it be postpaid or prepaid.

It would also impose a fine of P1 million or penalty of franchise revocation to telecommunications companies that would fail to implement the application of a subscriber within 24 hours after completing his or her application. — UNTV News & Rescue
