Senatorial slate of ‘Hugpong ng Pagbabago’ kicks off campaign trail in Pampanga

PAMPANGA, Philippines – Thousands of Kabalens flocked to the city of San Fernando on Tuesday (February 12) to show their support to the senatorial candidates of the ‘Hugpong ng Pagbabago’ Coalition, a regional political party founded by presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio.

The Coalition endorses 13 names for the senatorial race though only 12 spots are open in the Senate.

“Mayroong mga senatorial candidates na lumapit at nagpatulong para.maghanap ng mga kaibigan sa ibat ibang lugar ng Pilipinas so naisip namin na tulungan sila dahil nakikita namin na tutulong din sila sa administrasyon ni President Duterte,” Mayor Sarah said.

The lady mayor said that even though they feel the pressure, considering the strength of the rival candidates, she is confident of the track records and contributions of their senatorial candidates to national progress.

“Well hopefully naniniwala naman sila lahat sa gustong mangyari nating lahat na positive change and nakikita nila yun sa sinusubukan na gawin ni President Duterte,” Mayor Sarah said.

“Hopefully yung mga tao sa probinsya ng Pampanga at sa buong Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao suportahan nila ang mga senators na kaibigan, kakampi, partner ni President Duterte sa Senado,” she promoted.

The Coalition’s senatorial aspirants who were present in the first day of campaign were Senators Cynthia Villar and Sonny Angara; Taguig Representative Pia Cayetano; Retired General Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa; Sen JV Ejercito; Former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go; Former Senators Bong Revilla Jr, and Jinggoy Estrada; Congressman Dong Mangudadatu; Atty. Francis Tolentino; and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.

“Tayo naman po ay nagpapasalamat sa Hugpong kasi sila po ang namili kung sino ang i-endorse nila at tayo ay nagpapasalamat sa kanila kasi ini-endorse tayo,” expressed Senator Cynthia Villar.

The campaign kick-off rally was launched in Pampanga where President Duterte won a landslide vote in the 2016 presidential elections. – Marje Pelayo (with reports from Leslie Huidem)
