A 74-YEAR-OLD man was found lifeless and hanging with a rope tied around his neck inside his apartment in Purok 2, Barangay Kawasan, Aloguinsan town in southern Cebu Friday morning, June 3, 2022.

Lieutenant Roberto Barnido Jr., officer-in-charge of Aloguinsan Police Station, identified the victim as Samson Siacor, married and a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Kawasan.

Barnido told SunStar Cebu that a barangay councilor of Kawasan reported the incident around 10:54 a.m. Friday.

Personnel of Aloguinsan police, together with the Emergency Medical Service team, responded to the incident immediately and found the victim hanging.

Siacor was rushed to the Rural Health Unit of Aloguinsan but he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Barnido said that based on their investigation, Siacor suffered so many illnesses and this could be the reason why he killed himself.

The family of the victim also told police that Siacor was tired of his illnesses.

Barnido said older adults who commit suicide usually plan their suicide more carefully and they are less likely to be discovered and rescued because of their physical condition.

"Kasagaran sa mga tiguwang na naay sakit, mao gyud na ma depressed sila. Ila na lang bugtoon ilang kinabuhi para matapos na ilang pag antos," Barnido said.
