Senior citizen loses leg to road accident

A 77-YEAR-OLD woman lost her left leg after she was hit by a motorcycle along the national highway of Barangay San Jose, Catmon, Cebu on Monday evening, May 30, 2022.

Lieutenant Teofilo Manlanat, chief of Catmon Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Teresita Comahig Sudaria, housewife and resident of Barangay San Jose, Catmon, Cebu.

Manlanat told SunStar Cebu that around 9:30 p.m. of May 30, 2022, the victim was about to cross the national highway when she was sideswiped by a motorcycle.

The accident left the victim with a fractured left leg.

She was rushed to Sogod District Hospital in Barangay Damolog, Sogod, Cebu for medical treatment, but she was later referred to a hospital in Cebu City as her leg was cut due to severe injuries.

The motorcycle driver, meanwhile, was identified as Roger Tjernmoen, 50, a Norwegian who currently resides in Sitio Panangatan, Barangay Bawo, Sogod, Cebu.

Manlanat said they are still waiting for the decision of the victim’s family on whether to file a case or not.

The motorcycle driver may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries.

The Norwegian has been detained at the custodial facility of Catmon Municipal Police Station. (GDC)
