SG Phase 2 Heightened Alert: 6 cocktail delivery options for libation lovers

I would be the first to admit that there have been moments during this current period of WFH, sometime between dinner and sleep when I crave something a little more potent just to firmly erase all memories of the day’s back to back Zoom meetings. At times, a honking cup of bubble tea works, but what I’d like even better is a glass of well-crafted cocktail as a reward for a hard day’s work.

Unlike the previous Circuit Breaker where curated cocktail delivery options seem more out of necessity than deliberate planning, this time around, award-winning bars and drinking holes are out in full force with a carefully assembled home-delivery menu that imbues the bars’ hospitality philosophy while still keeping to the formulas and mixes that have proven to delight diners.

Jekyll & Hyde

Few would know that Jekyll & Hyde, inspired by its moniker, has origins as a nail parlour in the day, transforming into a sexy speakeasy come night. But that was in August 2013. Now, they’ve come into their own as one of Singapore’s pioneer cocktail bars, shedding the nail-parlour hyphenate entity and focusing instead on creating surprising twists on classic, familiar cocktails.

This libation philosophy reflects in their Phase 2 Heightened Alert delivery menu, which features crowd favourites such as Mr. Bean ($22+, 130ml), a local Lau Ban beancurd vodka-based cocktail, and gin-based cocktail, Sakura Spring ($22+, 130ml), made with mixed berry yoghurt.

Jekyll & Hyde’s cocktail selections are delivered in 130ml (for the drinker with restrain) or 700ml (to drown our collective Phase 2HA sorrows) bottles.

Elsewhere, the Lychee Martini ($22+, 130ml) is light but refreshing and makes for perfect day-drinking as you sip and imagine yourself somewhere on a beach in Bali circa 2019, of course. There’s also a creatively named Grape Expectations ($22+, 130ml), made with premium Roku Gin, Kyoho grape liqueur, and lime for you to fulfil all your Ohayo-Gozaimasu fantasies from the comfort of home.

Delivery & takeaway details:

  • Jekyll & Hyde is open daily from 11am to 9pm for takeaway and delivery orders.

  • Please call +65 8940 2450 or email hello@jekyll.sg to place your orders. Pick up options are available through Grab, Oddle and Urbanfindr.

  • For online deliveries, Jekyll & Hyde is available on Grab, Deliveroo, Foodpanda, Oddle and Urbanfindr.

Park Bench Deli

No one could have guessed that Park Bench Deli’s grand reopening would coincide with the halt of all dining-in service. Once a cosy little shack with a cavernous kitchen where staff busy themselves this way and that, the space is now renovated, transformed, and feels a little more grown-up. They’ve expanded the menu and introduced more seats for a buzzier lunch and dinner service.

The new space also offers up a drinks program curated by Jeremy Chua, formerly of 28 Hong Kong Street fame. Fans of the joint can look forward to selections such as The Chronic (S$15) made with AMASS Dry Gin, honey cumin, green bell pepper, and citrus. PBD’s bar program also prides itself on the Pickleback Old Fashioned (S$15)—a heady concoction of buffalo trace, house-pickled brine, and aromatic bitters.

The delivery menu also offers up canned cocktails by Fizzer Seltzer. Options include the Piney Limey (S$11) and The Tropical Crush (S$11), which has all-natural fruit flavours, is low calories, low carbs, and low gluten with a ABV of 4%—perfect for sipping on during your 5th Zoom meeting for the day.

Takeaway & delivery details:

  • Takeaway and pickup from 11am to 8pm at 179 Telok Ayer street.

  • Islandwide delivery via Park Bench Deli's website for a S$10 flat fee, and platforms such as Deliveroo. More providers will be added in the following weeks.

GUDSHT

GUDSHT Cocktail bundle (PHOTO: Gudsht)

While other bars and drinking holes partake in a race of sophistication and classy authenticity, Gudsht eschews such aspirations, focusing instead on bringing some much needed good fun to libation pursuits. It’s a playful approach that serves their mantra to good effect—’ to provide an avenue to drive warmth and goodwill between friends & family’. That it was borne out of a pandemic is merely coincidental, though its objective certainly does not look out of place in the situation that we’re in now.

With the goal of delivering a convivial fuzz to diners, Gudsht has crafted a delivery menu that is, in a word—hyper-local. There’s the Frooty Booty (S$12, 120ml), equal parts adult and child-like nostalgia with its infusion of Froot Loops-Infused Yoghurt with vodka and soju. The Cheng Tng Gao (S$15, 120ml) starts with Courvoisier Cognac and Amaretto Liqueur, finished with a steaming portion of Freshly Boiled Cheng Tng.

Elsewhere, the Keekapow (S$15, 120ml) harkens to days playing catch at the void deck, downing copious amount of Kickapoo Joy Juice—ah, youth. Here, it’s a concoction of Bacard Rum mixed with melon and spiced pear liquer, freshly squeezed juices, honey, and plum bitters. There’s also the White Sangrila Utama (S$15, 120ml), made with Sauvignon Blanc, Courvoisier Cognac, Grand Marnier, agave syrup, and an assortment of fruits. It’s the kind of thing dad drinks but packaged in a cuter bottle.

If you’re lost for choice (as if there’s such a thing, pfft), you can opt for the Mini Cocktail bundle — Cineleisure (S$69) or the Mini Cocktail bundle — King George (S$79), each serving six 120ml size bottles across the range of drinks Gudsht carries. If this isn’t value for money, then what is?

Takeaway & delivery details:

  • Drinks Order from 11am–10pm

  • Pick up from 11.30am–10.30pm

Laiba Singapore

Passion De-light (PHOTO: Laiba)
Passion De-light (PHOTO: Laiba)

Cocktail labels rarely pride themselves on being fully carbon-neutral like Laiba has. It’s an accomplishment that many consumers who care for the state of Mother Earth would appreciate. Drinking spirits while caring for the Earth? It doesn’t get more 2021 than that. That aside, the concoctions from Laiba are curated by award-winning mixologist Michael Chen, who is also the brand’s founding partner and Beverage Director. The drinks here also have zero artificial additives, made with cold-press juices, natural syrups, and craft spirits. Simply shake, pour, garnish, and enjoy.

Their delivery Phase 2HA delivery menu will get even the most beginner of cocktail enthusiast giddy with excitement. There’s the classic Twisted Negroni (S$12.50, 90ml) made with strawberry & rosemary-infused gin, Campari, Cinzano Rosso, and punt e mes bitter. The Passion De-Light (S$12.50, 90ml) is a crisp and refreshing number that is also low-calorie, made with cucumber-infused vodka, lime, and passion fruit.

A more exotic option would be the I Am Coconuts (S$12.50, 90ml) with ingredients that would either entice curiosity or have you make a run to the forest in fear— red chilli & kaffir lime leaf infused white rum, lime, apple, coconut syrup. Of course, if choices aren’t your cup of vodka, the Laiba Tasting Set (S$99.00, 8 bottles) would be right up your alley.

Takeaway & delivery details:
