SHAABAA 25th season to tip off in grand fashion on July 30

The Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) will celebrate its 25th season in grand fashion on July 30 at the Magis Eagles Arena inside the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

The league had its media day on Sunday, July 17, at the aforementioned venue. There, league officials led by SHAABAA chairman Afsheen Ghassemi, along with league commissioner Jonathan Saso and his deputy commissioners, Benedict Candia and Wyndell Casquejo, spoke about the upcoming tournament and the innovations they’re introducing.

One of those is the alumni mobile app that will exclusively showcase all the tournament’s games. Subscribers will also gain access to player and team profiles, statistics, photos, and updates regarding the league and other alumni activities.

The league is also partners with Asian Orthopedics headed by Dr. Pierre Mella.

“We are also proud to announce that Asian Orthopedics headed by Dr. Pierre Mella, are our partners. His team will make sure our players are healthy. And if ever any of our players are injured, they will make sure they are well taken care of,” said Ghassemi.

The basketball tournament will feature teams in three divisions. Division A is composed of batches 1990 to 2002 while Division B will have teams from batches 2003 to 2011. Division C will have teams from batches 2012 to present.
