SHEBA FC added another title to its growing chest of achievements as it won the Girls 12 Division of the AboitizLand Football Cup.
Sheba FC blanked Makoto Canduman, 15-0, to top the three-team field with a 2-0 record. The division was supposed to play a double round robin format but the outclassed Makoto FC and CCSC decided not to play the remaining matches, giving the title to Sheba FC.
Lyka Cueva led the rout with six goals, including two in just the first four minutes, while Pia Jumamoy had five goals, including three in the first 12 minutes. Jelena Loren Soon and Ava Alburo also added two more each to add the title to Sheba FC’s 2019 haul in the AboitizLand Under 14, SunStar Cup Girls 15 and 17-Under, Escriva Cup Girls 15 and the Ceres Cup Girls Under 14 titles.
Meanwhile, in the Boys 14 division, undefeated Don Bosco Technical College B and Cebu United are headed for a 1-2 finish in Group B after extending their unbeaten run on Dec. 15, 2019.
Cebu United got its fourth straight win with a 3-0 rout of Abellana National School to improve to 12 points. Roy Agustin Bulagao got the opening goal just three minutes in, while Javi Sian got the second in the 18th. Merick Baloria banged in the final goal in the 19th minute to complete the one-sided win.
Though undefeated in four matches, Cebu United trails DBTC B on goal difference after the Bosconians scored another impressive rout, this time against Giuseppe FC, 6-1.
DBTC B is safely ahead at No. 1 with 12 points and a goal difference of 20, eight more than Cebu United. Giuseppe is stuck at third with six points but only has one game left, while Ateneo de Cebu has three points in three matches but still has three games left to catch up on the 12 points and goal difference of 12 of Cebu United to finish at No. 2.
In Group A, Cebu Sherilin Plastic kept alive its semifinal hopes after scoring its first win of the season, 3-1, against DBTC C. Reyren Llamoso got Sherilin the lead in the 10th minute before Vince Mesa doubled it four minutes later. DBTC C got one back in the 58th but the team’s euphoria was short-lived as Sherilin scored again 10 minutes later.
Sherilin now has three points in two matches, good for third place in the group, which is led by the undefeated Ateneo Magis. DBTC A is second with six points in three matches, while KNF Ferraren is fourth with three points in three matches and a goal difference of minus 11. (ML)
