Cancelled flights irk passengers

Flights IconAir travellers are irked by the cancellation of almost a hundred domestic and international flights from Wednesday to Thursday (oct. 23-24) due to a 30-hour regular maintenance of Ninoy Aquino International Airport's radar system.

Numerous of passengers affected by the two-day flight suspension and are disappointed and angry with NAIA's service or lack thereof, with many complaining that they were not informed earlier.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said they released a flight cancellation notice in advance. CAAP Deputy Director Rodante Joya said they started the maintenance at 1 a.m. Wednesday and they expect to finish by 7 a.m. Thursday.

PAL operates local and international flights at NAIA Terminal 2. PAL Express and Cebu Pacific operates NAIA Terminal 3.

Many passengers whose flights were cancelled were upset and clueless of what's happening. Some vent their frustrations over social media and asked how is it that other airports in the world could upgrade their radars without disrupting their operations and suspending flights.
