The Shiga Lakestars could not give Kiefer Ravena a win in his 28th birthday, losing to the Kawasaki Brave Thunders 74-91 in the 2021/22 Japan B. League at the Ukaruchan Arena on Wednesday (27 October).

Ravena, who received a cake and a bouquet of flowers hours before tip-off, finished with 13 points as the Lakestars struggled to contain the balanced offensive thrust of the Brave Thunders in the 17-point defeat.

Shiga slid to a 6-3 record while Kawasaki rose to an identical 6-3 card.

Nick Fazekas spearheaded the onslaught for the winning side, putting up a near double-double effort of 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Jordan Heath also played an instrumental role in the triumph with a well-rounded line of 13 points, 11 boards and two dimes, while Pablo Aguilar supplied 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Brave Thunders came out firing and mounted a double-digit lead in the opening salvo. Trailing behind, the Lakestars relied on Ovie Soko, Novar Gadson and Ravena in a comeback bid, but the deficit proved too much.

Soko once again delivered the goods with 17 points, eight boards, four assists and two steals in the losing effort, while Gadson also saw his spirited outing of 17 points and eight rebounds go down the drain.

Ravena and the Lakestars will make a bounce back attempt when they return to action on 6 November against Chiba.
