(UPDATE) Four people were killed and four others are hurt in a shooting incident at the arrival area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Friday, an airport official said.
Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Angel Honrado has confirmed that four were killed, including Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur Mayor Ukol Talumpa and his wife. Talumpa reportedly arrived in Manila past 9 am from Zamboanga del Sur. They were at the loading bay when they were shot by the suspects.
The shooting incident was reported around 11:20 a.m at the Terminal 3, Bay 1 to 2. Initial information from witnesses say the gunmen were wearing police uniform but Honrado has yet to confirm such detail.
"Lahat ng items material to the case will be submitted to the SOCO for their appreciation," Honrado told a televised press conference.
Vince Hizon who was in the area was first among those who tweeted about the incident.
"GUNSHOTS! BE CAREFUL AT NAIA TERM 3 AIRPORT! I heard the multiple shots abt 10 mins ago! Police officer i talked to said two people hit!"
Airport operations will continue although tensions are high in the area.
"This is a very unfortunate incident. Law enforcement agents are trying their best to bring justice," said Honrado.
