Simple Blends crushes 5 Joints in Hoop Nation Arlon Cup

Simple Blends kept their remarkable winning run going as they demolished 5 Joints, 77-43, in the Hoop Nation Arlon Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court in Cebu Business Park.

The victory was Simple Blends’ eighth in a row to put their record at 10-2, good for best in the East division. Ralph “The Lion King” Belarmino lorded over the paint and tallied a double-double of 26 points and 12 boards to lead Simple Blends to the easy win.

The Wolves and AEG also kept in step with the leader as they registered victories as well. The Wolves dominated the Brothers, 77-43, with Bal Zaspa putting up 24 points and 12 rebounds as his team improved to 9-3.

AEG also nipped Dexstructures, 60-57, for their eighth victory in 11 matches. Brian Acebedo had 15 points, nine boards, and a steal to propel the team to third place in the standings with just a couple of games remaining in the elimination round.

The Trojan Warriors improved to 8-4 with a 66-61 win over 1.28 Realty. Dan-dan Javellana produced 17 points, six boards, and two blocks in the Warriors’ victory.

The Cougars also picked up their third win of the tournament after beating Clutch City, 62-59. John Balingit had 26 markers to pace the Cougars.

In the West division, the Prayboys edged Pfizer, 73-67, to move to 7-3. Kenny Genobia had 24 points and five rebounds in the victory.
