Singaporean actress Kimberly Chia, 26, announced through an Instagram video on Friday (22 October) that she is married and expecting a baby.
Chia revealed that she met her husband eight or nine years ago. They were just good friends before suddenly, “when the fate comes, [they] found out that [they] are really right for each other.” The couple then decided to get married and “move on to the next step of life.”
She added, “He’s a really nice guy. He treats me really well. He’s very kind. He always makes me laugh. I’m very lucky.”
Her then-boyfriend had proposed to her on the first day of Chinese New Year, and they registered their marriage soon after. However, due to COVID-19, they put off plans to hold a “big wedding party”, and instead went for a “small intimate one for family.”
Apart from the marriage news, Chia had another surprise, epitomising how good things come in pairs: she’s going to be a mum.
“I’m very excited. I’m not a very pantang (superstitious) person, so I wanted to share the news with you guys as soon as I found out,” Chia disclosed, suggesting she's still in her first trimester.
She added that she felt very lucky to be married and expect a child so soon, as she has always “wanted to have a family of [her] own.” When asked about how she felt seeing the ultrasound scan, she replied, “I was very touched. When I saw my baby moving, I was overcome by my emotions and cried. [The foetus is] so cute!”
Chia subsequently shared the good news on her Instagram account, along with photos of her in an embrace with her back-facing husband, and their wedding rings.
