Singers Afgan and Isyana compete in AXN Ultimate Challenge Indonesia

Indonesian singers, Afgansyah Reza, a.k.a Afgan, and Isyana Sarasvati, are set to go head-to-head in a competition that doesn’t involve singing. Rather, these two stars will be taking on the challenges of AXN’s ‘Ultimate Challenge Indonesia’.

The competition, which will be aired on AXN and pay-TV services, will see Afgan partnered with Reza Chandika to form ‘Team Afgan’, while ‘Team Isyana’ brings together the singer and her sister, Rara Sekar. Australian-born actor Richard Kyle is set to host the epic adventure show.

This group of celebrities will be taking their global audience on an Indonesian journey of gripping challenges and breathtaking scenery throughout some of Indonesia’s most stunning islands – perfect to capture on social media. The adventure is set in three tourist favourites within the archipelago – beginning first at Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara; they’ll then travel through Mandalika Island in Lombok, and then finally to Bali, where it will come to a close.

Their adventure will be aired over six episodes, each of which promises to keep fans glued to their screens while Afgan and Isyana are pushed out of their comfort zones to overcome challenges that put their minds, strength and social media skills to the test.

Along the way, audiences will discover the tremendously diverse culture, mouth-watering gastronomic delights and extraordinary natural wonders that Indonesia has to offer. From exploring the iconic Pink Beach in Labuan Bajo and flyboarding at Tanjung Benoa Beach, to paragliding in Nusa Dua, Bali, viewers will be able to relive their fondest memories of Indonesia across land, sea and sky with Afgan and Isyana, while being entertained by the non-stop drama and action of the competition.

The first episode will be aired on 25 November 2021 at 7.30pm Jakarta time, and new episodes will follow every Thursday and Friday on AXN Asia throughout Southeast Asia. Viewers in other parts of the world can watch the show on AXN Asia’s YouTube channel from 27 November 2021.

AXN Ultimate Challenge Indonesia is an original production of KC Global Media, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia. “We hope that through AXN Ultimate Challenge Indonesia, we can introduce the top destinations in Indonesia, in particular Labuan Bajo, Mandalika and Bali,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno.

The minister, who goes by the name ‘Sandi’, explained that in addition to the magnificent natural panorama, there are many activities that can be experienced in these three tourist destinations. Tourists can get to know the local communities and their unique cultures, like the Sasak Sade tribe in Mandalika.

Virtual ASEAN Insta-meet

In conjunction with the show’s premiere, AXN Asia and local Instagram communities @CameraIndonesia (Indonesia), @InstaSG (Singapore), @IGersMalaysia (Malaysia) and @IGersManila (Philippines) will unite to ignite the virtual ‘ASEAN Insta-meet’, a community-led social movement that will crowdsource ASEAN Instagrammers to share their points of view through beloved memories of their favourite destinations in Indonesia through the art of photography.

One Instagrammer in each country, from those who submit photographs, will be selected – on the basis of the most heart-warming post – and crowned AXN Asia's Ultimate Travel Insider of their country and awarded with a DJI Pocket 2.

The ‘ASEAN Insta-meet’ social movement will start on 25 November and will continue until 13 December. It’s open to all Instagrammers residing in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.

AXN Asia’s Instagram account will also post unaired scenes of Afgan and Isyana's adventures. Along the way, they will meet members of the public, offering Instagrammers an opportunity to discover authentic stories that highlight the tenacity and resilience of Indonesian people.
