Sinulog 2023 draws 24 dancing contingents

AT LEAST 24 dancing contingents are expected to join this year’s One Cebu Sinulog Festival on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023.

Of the number, 15 groups, including the award-winning Lumad Basakanon of Barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City, will also compete in the Sinulog sa Kabataan on Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Aside from Barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City barangays that will be joining this Sunday’s Sinulog sa Kabataan are the following: Mabini, San Nicolas, Tisa, San Roque, Tejero, Pardo, Inayawan, Guadalupe, Mabolo, Labangon and Binaliw.

Also joining this year’s Sinulog sa Kabataan are Tribu Cebu Tech, the official contingent from the Cebu Technological University; and contingents from the cities of Carcar and Lapu-Lapu.

Meanwhile, the cities of Talisay, Toledo, Naga and Mandaue and the municipality of Barili will field competing contingents during the Sinulog Grand Parade on Jan. 15 at the South Road Properties.

Two out-of-town contingents—one from Socorro town in Surigao del Norte and the other from La Castellana town in Negros Occidental—will also join the Sinulog Grand Parade, according to the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office.

Finally, two guest contingents—Carmen town in Cebu Province and the Hwacheon Beomangol Nongak Preservation Association of South Korea—will also join this year’s Sinulog as well. (ANV, TPT)
