CAVITE, Philippines – Supporters of slain Trece Martires City Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan flocked in hundreds to his funeral as he was laid to rest yesterday.
Wearing white t-shirts, the supporters held out a banner carrying the message, “Justice for Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan.”
Among the prominent personalities who attended the funeral were former Cavite governor, Juanito Victor Remulla and Vice Governor Ramon Jolo Revilla III.
Prior to his internment, a final viewing was held. During the necrological service, Lubigan’s family once again sought justice for his death.
“Sana ang pagsasakripisyo mo ay may kahantungan. All I am praying for is makamit mo ang katarungan. We are crying, the Treceños are crying, crying for help, crying for justice. Alam ko justice will prevail,” said Gemma Lubigan, the widow of the slain official.
Cavite Vice Governor Ramon Jolo Revilla III said they will exert “all efforts to investigate and determine the identity of the assailants including others who may be involved in the crime by inducement or indispensable cooperation and to bring them all to justice.”
Vice Mayor Lubigan was ambushed by unidentified suspects last July 7.
The Philippine National Police is currently investigating the possible motive for his murder. – Benedict Samson / UNTV News and Rescue
