EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) _ Stantec Inc. (STN) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $32.1 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Edmonton, Alberta-based company said it had profit of 29 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 36 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 35 cents per share.
The engineering firm posted revenue of $916.9 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $682.7 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $146.5 million, or $1.31 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.8 billion.
Stantec shares have risen roughly 4% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $29.37, an increase of 18% in the last 12 months.
