FILIPINO-American fighter Mark Striegl won’t be making his UFC debut on Aug. 23, 2020 (PH time), after testing positive for Covid-19.
“I tested positive for CV19 and my Aug. 22 (US time) UFC fight is cancelled,” Striegl said in a post on his official Facebook page. “You can never be too careful these days. Thankfully, my symptoms are mild, and I’m looking forward to bouncing back! Thank you to the UFC for taking care of me and to everyone for all the support! Stay safe, everyone!”
The 32-year old Striegl was supposed to face Russian Timur Valiev in the curtain raiser of UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Striegl, who has a record of 18-2, is currently one of the best Filipino MMA fighters. He spent most of his career in Asia, fighting in the PXC, ONE Championship and local MMA organization URCC.
Striegl just recently got a contract with the UFC this month. (EKA)
