Grade 12 student Jasper Mallari never knew he would have another chance to help the same stranger he helped a year ago.
He was riding a jeepney when he noticed a kid who kept staring at him. He ignored it at first until their eyes met, the kid gave him a smile.
He smiled back.
In his Twitter post, Jasper recalled he could not remember who the kid was at that time. But he smiled back anyway. When they both alighted the jeepney, the kid approached him.
“Kuya, thank you po nag-aaral na po ako,” the kid said. That’s when Jasper remembered. He gave the kid a set of school supplies last year.
Jasper couldn’t help but shed a few tears. Who knew that someone like him, a student, could have a lot of impact to another person.
He never expected the kid to remember him or even thank him for the small thing he had done.
Jasper decided to give him more school supplies and was happy to have found another opportunity to spread kindness.
“Hindi mo naman talaga need ang super yaman kasi kung willing ka talaga tumulong for them tutulong at tutulong ka no matter what. Kasi iba iyong pakiramdam na tumutulong sa kapwa (You really don’t need to be super rich because if you are willing to help then you will help them no matter what. Being able to help someone is really a different feeling),” he said.—AAC (with details from Cianell Camposano)
