At last year's Emmys, Succession pretty much cleaned up, bagging awards for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor, as well being nominated in 18 different categories. Needless to say, it was so well-deserved - Succession is dream TV. Created by Peep Show and Fresh Meat's Jesse Armstrong, the series follows rich patriarch Logan Roy as he tries to manage his media empire and dysfunctional family.

So what about Succession season 3? The third series was commissioned by HBO in August 2019 and was due to drop in 2020, but the pandemic meant production was pushed back. And it looks like filming is yet to resume because a bunch of exciting new cast members have just been announced. Here's everything we know:

Who will star in Succession season 3?

All the main cast members are returning because Succession wouldn't be half the series that it is without the entire Logan family (and of course comedy duo Greg and Tom). That includes Brian Cox (Logan Roy), Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy), Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy), Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy), Hiam Abbass (Marcia Roy), Nicholas Braun (Greg Hirsch), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans) and Alan Ruck (Connor Roy).

On January 14th, HBO also announced three new cast members will be joining the series, and one of them is Korean music star Jihae who will be playing Berry Schneider, a leading PR consultant. Meanwhile, The Affair's Sanaa Lathan will play high-profile lawyer Lisa Arthur and Elementary star Linda Emond will play Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven, a senior White House aide.

What will Succession 3 be about?

Season 2 ended with Kendall Roy turning on his father (again), insisting he was definitely aware of the cruise scandal. We imagine the new season will pick up right where it left off, so we'll finally learn of the fall out from Kendall's bold decision, and the impact it will have on Logan and his media empire.

The official synopsis reads: "Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall (Jeremy Strong) at the end of Season 2, Logan Roy (Brian Cox) begins Season 3 in a perilous position. Scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war."

When will Succession season 3 be on TV?

Season one aired in June 2018, with season two following in August 2019. Filming on season 3 was originally due to start in March 2020, but was put on hold indefinitely due to the pandemic. According to multiple reports, filming is about to resume, but it's unclear when the show will land on TV - though we imagine it's probably going to be some time in late 2021.

As with the first two seasons, the series will air on HBO in America and Sky Atlantic in the UK. If you don't have Sky, you can watch Succession season 3 with a NOW TV Entertainment Pass.
