DANRICK Sumabong guns for the Philippine Youth super flyweight strap today, Dec. 17, 2021, against fellow prospect Francis Jay Diaz in the main event of HBG Promotions’ “Suntok sa Pangarap 7” in Panglao, Bohol.

Sumabong ends a two-year hiatus to fight Diaz. He won his last three contests in 2019, with his last fight, a split decision win over Jonathan Francisco.

Like Sumabong, Diaz also hasn’t fought for two years. His last fight was in 2019, wherein he lost via a first round stoppage in the hands of Judy Flores.

Sumabong is 10-2 with eight knockouts, while Diaz is 8-3-1 with a knockout.

In the co-main event, Jessie Cris Rosales looks to end a three-fight losing streak against journeyman Junny Salogaol.

Both Rosales and Salogaol are making their comebacks. Rosales, who worked as a kargador (freighter) during the pandemic, last fought in 2019 and lost to Xavier Martinez via a first round knockout.

Salogaol, on the other hand, worked as a boxing trainer and last saw action also in 2019, in which he was stopped by Muhamad Ridhwan in the fifth round.

Rosales is 22-4-1 with 10 knockouts, while Salogaol is 14-18-5 with 13 knockouts.

In the undercard, Jhaleel Payao (16-1, 10 KOs) slugs it out with former teammate Marjon Piencenaves (6-2-1, 4 KOs), Joseph Sumabong (1-2, 1 KO) trades leathers with Ramil Yacapin (2-4, 2 KOs), Kit Ceron Garces (1-0, 1 KO) is up against Tony Tuñacao, John Vincent Pangga (2-0, 1 KO) is fighting Cedie Noblefranca (0-6-1), Chris John Daan makes his pro debut against fellow newcomer Henry Flor, Alex del Rio faces off with Miguel Semblante (0-1), Marco Pumar (1-0, 1 KO) squares off with Rhezon Tarona (0-1), Richie Cacanog faces Jhapet Antigua and Keyt Niño Abatayo (1-0) opens up the show against Marlon Alejandro (1-1).
