As you're probably well aware of, there's no shortage of iPad mini lookalikes in the Philippines, especially ones for the price-sensitive bunch. Newly added to that list is the Suntouch Plasma 500, yet another 7.85-inch tablet clearly inspired by Apple's scaled-down iPad.
It's even roughly the same size as the original iPad mini, and has the same 4:3 aspect ratio and 1,024 x 768 resolution found in the latter. The display also features IPS technology for vibrant colors and more generous viewing angles.
Of course, the major changes are internal, so besides trading iOS for Android Jelly Bean, the Suntouch Plasma 500 makes the jump to a 1.5GHz quad-core processor from Actions Semiconductor, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. You also get a pair of 2-megapixel main and secondary cameras, as well as a sealed 3,500mAh battery.
Specs-wise, the Plasma is a garden-variety offering with Android in tow, but don't let that stop you from checking it out, especially considering how closely it resembles the iPad mini, which is widely considered to be the gold standard in tablet hardware.
The Suntouch Plasma 500 is already available in stores for P6,495. More info here.
