A survey conducted by Radyo Veritas revealed that presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo has the track record and platform most beneficial to the poor.

The Veritas Truth Survey (VTS) had 2,400 respondents and was conducted from December 1, 2021 to January 15, 2022. VTS describes itself as “an in-house research mechanism scientifically designed to get the social pulse of various respondents nationwide on crucial social and church issues which can be utilized for Radio Veritas' Evangelization thrust.”

Robredo topped the survey at 42%, and was followed by dictator’s son Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (25%), Sen. Panfilo Lacson (15%), Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno (12%), Ka Leody de Guzman (1%), former defense secretary Norberto Gonzales (1%), while 4% is none of the above.

Radyo Veritas President Fr. Anton Pascual said that the survey was done hoping to motivate voters to “look inwards” as they choose their candidates for the 2022 elections.

“This is at the core of our Catholic Values and Beliefs. Thus, we hope that this survey will help our presidential aspirants to look inwards in appreciation of genuine servant leadership to which our Catholic electorate looks forward to in these upcoming polls,” he said.

Moreover, Bro. Clifford Sorita, head of the VTS, clarified that the poll was not about voting preference, but about pressing issues concerning the poor.

“Like in previous surveys, this is not a voting preference survey. The goal of this survey is to create an ‘issue-based’ assessment of the presidential aspirants for the 2022 polls based on the perception of the Catholic Respondents of this survey,” he said. “And, if this pro-poor agenda becomes a primary voting motivator for this upcoming poll then results of which can be duly correlated in due time. For now, our Veritas Truth Survey is being conducted vis-à-vis crucial social issues to which the Church has various advocacies and apostolate.”

This was not the first time Robredo topped a survey conducted by the VTS. Last November, she also scored first on a survey about “upholding Catholic values and beliefs.”

Radyo Veritas is part of “One Godly Vote”, a campaign seeking to guide voters to “take the elections seriously” and select a Godly candidate who will best represent the interests of the people.
