THE suspect in the killing of a vegetable vendor in San Fernando, Cebu was arrested Friday, May 27, 2022.

Police Major Efren dela Cruz Diaz Jr., chief of the San Fernando Police Office, identified the suspect as Larry Lantape Sabellano, 37, a resident of Sitio Cogon, Barangay Greenhills, San Fernando.

Sabellano was nabbed around 5 p.m. Friday, May 27, after witnesses identified him as the person who killed Diomedesa Lapera Gedaro, 67, also a resident of Barangay Greenhills.

Gedaro was found dead in a ravine near her house in Barangay Greenhills, San Fernando Thursday morning, May 26. Her neck was almost cut with only a skin holding it.

She was found by some residents in the area.

Diaz said the police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation against Sabellano after he was identified by the witnesses.

Police believe that Sabellano robbed Gedaro before killing her, as police could not find the bag she was carrying before she was found dead.

Gedaro might have known Sabellano personally, the reason that he was killed by the suspect, said Diaz. (GPL/LMY)
