Suspected ‘salvage’ victim found in Mandaue City

THE body of a murdered man was found in Sitio Lapyahan, Barangay Labogon in Mandaue City on Thursday morning, March 12, 2020.

The face of the unidentified victim was wrapped in packaging tape. He had handcuffs on his wrists.

The body had burns and gunshot wounds, according to Basak Police Station Chief P/Maj. James Conaco.

Some residents told the police that they heard gunshots around 1 a.m. Thursday. But they did not bother to check what it was as they had felt fear at the time.

Conaco said the victim’s face was unrecognizable, adding that the man could be a salvage victim.

A resident in Lapyahan called and informed the Basak Police Station about the presence of a body dumped in a grassy area in the sitio.

Conaco said crime scene investigators found two empty shells, a black shirt, masking tape and a cigarette butt. (KFD)
