HOME economic teachers must be very proud of their students right now as most people nowadays are acing all household management and home activities like cooking, planting, home decorating etc.
Before, setting the table in the fanciest and most decorative way possible could only be seen at grand events. But now, “tablescaping” at home is the new normal on social media.
So if you’re into a minimalist setup, local brand Raspberry Girl PH (@raspberrygirl.ph) offers earthy elements for the dining area with its eco-friendly, aesthetically pleasing and sustainable, locally made top-quality acaciaware. Think bowls, plates, drink coasters, serving trays and cutting boards that can be used in one’s home for a very long time. These items were inspired by owners Ara and Ayn Daligdig’s minimalist lifestyle and the idea of living a sustainable life.
“We love to be surrounded by flowers and natural things like wood. Having acaciaware feels like inviting nature into our home and getting in touch with the earth. One random day, we thought, ‘Why not share this joyful experience to everybody?’” shared Ara.
The name Raspberry Girl, according to Ara, has “the vibe of like walking through a beautiful forest while picking raspberries, with sunlight brimming through the branches of the trees. You are there, present and in the moment, walking through the soft grass, barefoot and unbothered, with your hand smelling like raspberries.”
The brand’s goal is to promote a sustainable lifestyle through the use of beautiful and functional acaciaware that can last a long time. Since each product is designed to last a lifetime, the best way to clean an item is to wash it with warm soapy water and to air dry afterward. And to preserve its quality and brand-new look, treat it with mineral oil.
Each product is produced by local manufacturers and craftsmen from different parts of the country to support local artisans. Even the native bags used to pack its wooden boards are made by craftsmen in Cebu.
Local brand @eleven.ph takes @raspberrygirl.ph’s acaciaware to a whole new level as it creates custom resin pieces, like its beach-themed acacia cheese boards and coasters, perfect for beach lovers and beach-themed dinners or parties.
And given the current global pandemic situation, Raspberry Girl PH has collaborated with brands that have the same vision. Nelwood PH, a Metro Manila-based brand, provides functional and sustainable products for the “new normal” like its “No-Touch Tool,” a tool made of mahogany wood created to prevent people from touching public surfaces such as ATMs, elevator buttons, door handles and the like.
