American fast-food chain Taco Bell is set to open their first outlet in Cyberjaya, Malaysia and in Senopati, South Jakarta, Indonesia.
“After much speculation, the world’s largest Mexican-inspired quick service restaurant reveals its first location in Malaysia: Cyberjaya, Taco Bell is coming to you!” the copy read on the chain’s newly-launched Malaysian website.
“The exact launch date and address remain under wraps (for now), but sign up below, and you’ll be the first to know.”
Despite the pandemic, there are two Taco Bell outlets planned for Malaysia. Run by franchisee Disruptive Concepts Restaurants Group in Malaysia, the first outlet will be opened in Cyberjaya and the second in Tropicana Gardens Mall, Petaling Jaya.
While the exact dates for the opening are yet to be announced, Taco Bell Malaysia has announced that they have started hiring and interested individuals to apply via their website.
Opening their first outlet in 1962, Taco Bell has since grown to be the largest Mexican restaurant chain globally with over 7,000 restaurants worldwide. A subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Taco Bell, resides in the same corporate umbrella as KFC and Pizza Hut.
Taco Bell first opened an outlet in Singapore at then-Funan DigitaLife Mall in 1999 before exiting the market in 2008 due to various reasons including low sales. No indication when Taco Bell will re-enter Singapore market but only time will tell.
