Taguig to develop C-6 road

Manila, Philippines -- To further enhance Taguig City's tourism sector, the local city government said Sunday that it will develop the lakeshore area along C-6 Road and convert it as a tourism destination.

In an interview shortly after the oathtaking of Taguig City officials who won in the recently-concluded elections, Mayor Lani Cayetano said it is important to develop the said area into a commercial and tourism site as it will also generate more jobs for Taguiguenos.

Cayetano said the development of the 8-km stretch of the lakeshore will be a priority project for her as she enters her second term as mayor of the city.

The lakeshore area along C-6 Road spans four barangays namely Lower Bicutan, San Miguel, Hagonoy, and Napindan.

Cayetano said in the pipeline is the creation of a jogging area, parks, and sports facilities on the lakeshore.

Aside from this, the city government also plans to build seafood port and seafood restaurants where people can eat and relax.

''We have a beautiful lakeshore. We have and an 8-km stretch of lakeside at ito ang inaasahan natin na madevelop into a jogging area, a place for family,'' Cayetano said.

''Also mga water sports facitilities natin and seafood port natin, seafood restaurants para dito sa part ng Serendra or Bonifacio Global City ang makikita natin negosyo na both local at international pero sa part ng lakeside gusto natin mabuhay ang tourism doon kasi alam naman natin na kapag nabuhay ang turismo sa bahagi nun ng Taguig, magdadadag ito ng trabaho para sa ating mga kababayan,'' she added.

Cayetano said the development of the lakeshore area also forms part of their mission to improve and to make perfect the delivery of services to the people, particularly in health, education, peace and order and livelihood.

''Ngaun, kung saan man kami dalhin nung ginagawa namin o plina-plano namin seed dito sa Taguig na good governance, private sector na ang bahala mag husga. Ang amin po commitment eh pagbutihin pa ang aming pamamahala lalo pagdating sa pagne-negosyo sa Taguig,'' she explained.

No less than outgoing Senator Manny Villar administered the oath of office to the 31-year-old City Mayor who is the wife of Senator Allan Peter Cayetano.

Also present during the oath taking of local officials is newly-elected San Juan Representative Ronaldo ''Ronnie'' Zamora whose daughter Pammy, won as Councilor in the 2nd District of the city.
