THE police in Talisay City, Cebu are looking into a person who may have involvement in the murder of a 10-year-old Kiara Mae Namanama in Sitio Napo in the mountain barangay of Tapul.

Lt. Col. Randy Caballes, chief of the Talisay City police, said they have identified one person of interest; however, he believed the person may have accomplices.

He said the person of interest was seen in the area where the girl was last seen.

A person of interest, by definition, is believed to be possibly involved in a crime, but has not been charged or arrested.

The girl was believed to be raped, but this theory can only be proven by the autopsy result, which has yet to be released.

Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony has offered P100,000 as reward to a person who could give information that could help in identifying the killers of the girl.

Any information that the Talisay City Police Station will receive will undergo validation. Information relating to the case can be sent through this hotline number: 09154347162.

The girl was found dead inside a small cave in Barangay Tapul, Talisay City, Cebu on Sunday morning, January 9, 2022.

Before she went missing on Thursday, January 6, Kiara Mae had gone swimming with her older brother in a river in Tapul.

Kiara Mae later told her brother she would head home first. But she did not return home.

Police are looking into the possibility that she was raped. (BBT/ KAL)
