Talisay, Danao, Sogod, San Remigio earn Seal of Good Local Governance

ONLY four local government units (LGUs) from Cebu were awarded with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) this year.

The component cities of Talisay and Danao and the municipalities of San Remigio and Sogod were among the 350 LGUs nationwide to have been awarded with the SGLG this year.

Aside from the four LGUs from Cebu, two other towns from Central Visayas -- Larena in Siquijor and Alburquerque in Bohol -- also got the seal.

The DILG published the list of this year’s SGLG winners in its website on Thursday, October 27, 2022.

The SGLG is a progressive assessment system adopted by DILG to give distinction to remarkable local government performance across several areas.

To win the award, local government units must pass the core areas of financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and tourism, health compliance and responsiveness, programs for sustainable education, business-friendliness and competitive; safety, peace and order; environmental management, tourism, heritage development, culture and arts; and youth development.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas said this was the first time the city was awarded with the SGLG.

Gullas said he thanked City Government employees for helping them in achieving the award.

“We strived for this the whole first term to be recognized as one of the LGUs in the whole country to symbolize integrity and good performance,” Gullas added. (JKV)
