THE Talisay City Government is limiting the number of churchgoers to strictly implement physical distancing and prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

In aerial photos posted on Facebook by the Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, churchgoers were seen following physical distancing during the Misa de Gallo inside and outside churches.

It's a different sitaution in Cebu City. Colonel Josefino Ligan, Cebu City Police Office chief, said starting Friday, December 18, roads surrounding the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño will be closed to prevent people from flocking outside the church. Basilica officials also changed mass schedules to ensure distancing.

Ligan said the road in Saint Therese Parish in Barangay Lahug was also closed after several churchgoers attended the dawn mass.

The road closures was suggested by Ligan to the Emergency Operations Center to implement distancing after churchgoers flocked to Cebu city churches on the first two days of the dawn masses.

Crowds of people were seen on the roads outside the city churches that limited the number of those who can go inside. (RSR)
