Talisay’s P1.4 billion budget approved

THE Talisay City Council has approved the proposed P1.4 billion budget for 2023.

Vice Mayor Richard Francis “Choy” Aznar said they did not change the allocations of the budget and all members of the council approved it during their regular session Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022.

He said some department heads wanted their allocations increased to support certain programs, but they were assured Tuesday that the City can pass a supplemental budget if there is a need for it.

Social services got the highest allocation at P209 million, followed by development fund at P198 million, health services at P98 million and disaster risk management at P73 million.

Aznar said Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas wants government services for their constituents continued and sustained.

Lesser budget

Meanwhile, Edgar Mabunay, budget officer of Talisay City Hall, said there is a decrease in their budget for next year because of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Talisay’s budget for 2022 is P1.5 billion, which is P100 million more than the P1.4 billion budget for 2023.

Mabunay assured, though, that the decrease in the budget allocated will not affect their services, stressing that they made sure that the funds will go to what is really needed. (BBT / LMY)
