A TANOD was attacked in Barangay Manlapay in the southern town of Dalaguete, Cebu in the early hours of Saturday morning, September 10, 2022.

The victim, 55-year-old Leonilo Jacoina Amancia, suffered cuts on the face and chin.

According to Executive Master Sergeant Jorami Tanudtanud, investigator at the Sibonga Police Station, Amancia was one of the tanods tasked to secure a dance in the barangay, which was celebrating its fiesta.

When the dance finished at 3 a.m., Amancia headed home alone, he said.

The path was dark so Amancia couldn’t make out the man who suddenly hacked him, Tanudtanud said.

Despite his injuries, Amancia was able to flee the scene and seek the assistance of relatives who brought him to the hospital.

The victim was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Tanudtanud said Amancia didn’t say if he had enemies, but his attacker must have had a grudge against him. (GPL)
