FORMER World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight king Marlon Tapales makes his way back into the ring as he takes on ex-regional champion Macrea Gandionco, who has lost his last four fights, on March 21, 2020 in Gen. Santos City.
The 27-year-old Tapales is looking to bounce back after losing an 11th round stoppage to Ryosuke Iwasa on Dec. 7, 2019 in an interim International Boxing Federation (IBF) super bantamweight title fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Tapales was dropped twice in that fight.
Despite the loss, Tapales is still ranked No. 4 in the IBF.
Tapales will have his hands full against the 28-year-old Gandionco, who has faced some talented fighters in his weight division.
Gandionco owns a stoppage win over WBO No. 2 minimumweight Jing Xiang. He has also fought but lost to the likes of former world champion Suriyan Kaikanha, Nawaphon Kaikanha and Yutthana Kaensa. (EKA)
