A FRATERNITY member was in critical condition after he was shot multiple times by members of another fraternity in Barangay Vito, Minglanilla, Cebu at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Police identified the wounded as James Amolata, a member of Alpha Kappa Rho or Akrho.

The 25-year-old Vito resident has been treated for the wounds in his right arm, stomach and right leg.

One of the suspects was identified as Jemar Pardillo. He fled with his group, three men who were reportedly his cousins, after the incident. They were reportedly members of Tau Gamma Phi.

Pardillo and the three other men were armed, police said.

Before the shooting incident, Amolata had attended a disco with his fellow Akrho members during a fiesta in Barangay Poblacion Ward 4.

An unidentified member of Tau Gamma Phi wearing a shirt printed with the fraternity’s logo joined the Akrho group.

Amolata reportedly asked the Tau Gamma member to stay away from the Akrho group as he was wearing a different shirt to avoid trouble.

This angered Pardillo’s group that an argument between two fraternity members ensued.

Pardillo’s group left the disco venue and waited for Amolata’s group to pass by in Vito. When Amolata’s group did come, the suspect’s group opened fire, hitting Amolata in different parts of his body.
